Mining company pulls out of Jamaica

first_imgThe Australian mining company, OZ Minerals, says it is pulling out of Jamaica after three years of copper-gold exploration activities.“OZ Minerals, and especially the Bellas Gate management and geological team, would like to take this opportunity to thank Jamaica and its people for their support, hard work and friendship during the company’s time here,” the company said in a statement.OZ Minerals’ operations comprise five wholly owned tenements at Bellas Gate in Clarendon, and the Rodinia in Portland. It said the withdrawal should be completed in late 2016 after it closes out formal legal agreements and tenement transfers with Carube Copper Corp, its local partners.OZ Chief Executive Officer Andrew Coles said the company had decided to quit its operations in  Jamaica because the mineral deposits discovered were not satisfactory.last_img read more

McKinley’s defense catapults Bulldogs past Perry, 62-38

first_img NEO HS Staff Related TopicsCanton McKinleyPerry by Nick BroulisCANTON, OHIO– Suffocating defense and excellent ball movement to start the game helped the Canton McKinley Bulldogs improve their record to 6-5 overall and 4-3 within the Federal League with a win over the Perry Panthers. Final score from the Fieldhouse was 62-38.The Perry Panthers scored the first points of the game, but the Bulldogs took over after that and never looked back. From start to finish, the Bulldogs really pushed the ball every time an opportunity presented itself. Junior guard Deontae McCollum scored 16 points. McCollum was very active at both ends of the floor, but especially on the defensive end. He played great defense on the perimeter and the passing lanes. On the other end, McCollum did a nice job of knocking down open shots and getting to the rim.Junior guard Tymere Straughter added 10 points and Junior power forward Jayden McCallup also helped out with eight points.McKinley was swarming on defense and did an excellent job of clogging the paint. The Panthers tried early in the game to get points in the paint. Sophomore forward Jagger Haynes had the most success, but even Haynes was forced into difficult shots that he managed to get go down. Jagger finished with 11 points. The Panthers were led in scoring by junior guard Julian Jackson. Jackson finished the game with 15 points.Perry was still close at the end of the first quarter, trailing McKinley 15-9, but were out-scored in the second quarter, 16-8. The Bulldogs held a 31-17 lead at halftime.By the end of the third quarter, Canton McKinley held a solid 47-29 lead. With under three minutes left in the game, the score was 56-34, as the Bulldogs were in complete control. This allowed coach Rick Hairston to pull his starters and let the bench bunch finish out the game.Overall, the Canton McKinley Bulldogs really played good defense, from the inside, out. The Panthers really struggled to find any openings to get an open look. When Perry did try and force the issue inside, McKinley put bodies on bodies and forced turnovers when any Panthers players brought the ball below their waist. Once the ball was loose, the Bulldogs were out on a fast break and Perry simply wasn’t ready for McKinley’s speed at either end.The Bulldogs also had their way inside the paint when it came to scoring and second-chance points. After the game, Hairston talked about the team’s overall performance.“We’re not worried about our offense,” he said. “We know we can score. Tonight, we played good defense, and consistently. That’s what we’re trying to get better at as a team is the defensive side of the ball. We want to be a good defensive team more consistently.“Once we get that, we’ll be a more complete team. We held them (Perry) to 26 points in the first half including only nine points in the first quarter alone. That’s what we want to do on defense.”The Bulldogs head to Green next Tuesday for a match-up with the Bulldogs. Green currently sits in second place in the Federal League with 7-3 overall record after defeating first-place Lake 52-49.With the loss, the Panters drop to 2-10 and 0-7 within the Federal League. They’ll travel to Green to take on the Bulldogs this Friday night with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.last_img read more

NFL CBS graphics

Everything is uniform, that I’ve seen, anyway. I hope they change the in-game graphics, as well. This is not related to graphics, but J.B. adds a lot to that show. FOX is still my favorite, though. 26,196 Posted September 11, 2006 0 31,105 posts 358 Members uniguy22 Back from a 4-year break Share this post Link to post CS85 5 Location:Champaign, IL 0 Share on other sites Location:Hartland, WI Posted September 11, 2006 Members I am a huge fan of NBC’s show. I love the post game show, and their in-game graphics package. Posted September 11, 2006 910 quantum 1,555 0 hmmm.. the score to the left of the team abbrevations on the upper-right corner will take some getting used to …. and wow. The Bills scored quickly…. Next The new Fox NFL Pregame is horrible. They lost JB & Jillian, and switched to the outdoor format, as well as acquiring the worst sports host in the country in Joe Buck. It’s weak as hell, I was thoroughly bored by the entire broadcast (outside of Caliendo’s JB slam). The CBS pregame wasn’t bad, I enjoy the new set, but I don’t like the crew outside of JB. 3 Unwind Link to post Link to post Sign in to follow this   Share on other sites Posted September 11, 2006 0 Share this post Totally agree. Fox seemed to be getting worse last season and now this season its just terrible. Joe Buck sucks, they have Ford ads all over the place, they’re outside all the time and its just boring. I was leaning to ESPN but CBS’s pregame show was really well done today. Fox is obviously trying to mimic the ESPN College Gameday atmosphere but I just don’t think it works at NFL games. I agree though, I thought the FOX Pre Game was weak. They all just seem to goof around for an hour instead presenting information. Jimmy Johnson is ridiculous and Terry Bradshaw thinks he’s a stand-up comic. I like Joe Buck but not as a host. He’s much better just doing the play-by-play.And I’m glad they decided to get rid of the dots on the scoreboard. That might have been the worst decision in TV history. Whoever signed off on that idea should be fired (if they weren’t already).I dig the new CBS package. Yeah, the FOX pre-game was a wicked rip-off of ESPN’s College GameDay (Built by the Home Depot, of course lol). It works for ESPN and college football in general because the energy at college games is different than that of an NFL game, IMO.I like the CBS scoreboard graphics – clean, simple, and not a floating scoreblob like on ESPN MNF…I now like CBS’s pre-game too. So far, CBS gets a thumbs up early in the season. So since he was doing the cowboys-jaguars game they had to have the pre-game in jacksonville.I’ll use joe bucks own words to describe FOX’s pregame,”that is a disgusting act, and its unfortunate that we had that on our air live” Share this post Posted September 11, 2006 0 18 Share this post Link to post Posted September 11, 2006 Prev Share this post 2,232 posts CS85 0 18 i dont like how the numbers come before the team name on the scoreboard. it annoys me.
