They didn’t lose a single game in the entire tournament.Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy didn’t have any hiccup in their path to clinch the title in BrazilSatwik suffered a hairline fracture on November 2018 and has been out of action since then. He vowed to return to action only when deemed fully fit, as a result of which their rankings dipped considerably. Satwik didn’t participate in the Premier Badminton League either.Seeded first in their first competition in 2019, they ousted Peru’s Bruno Deza and Diego Mini 21-14, 21-18 to qualify for the quarterfinals. There, they took out the American-Indonesian pair of Sattawat Pongnairat and Ferdinand Sinarta 22-20, 21-15.In the semi-finals, they eked out Netherlands’ Jacco Arends and Ruben Jille 21-17, 21-19 in a nail-biting encounter. In a clash between the top two seeds in the finals, Satwik and Chirag emerged as victors 21-14, 21-18.The next challenge for the duo will be the Australian Open which is set to commence on 4th June.Advertisementlast_img read more
