Print Friendly Version The Varsity Blues women’s water polo team went to Pomona on Thursday to take on the Pomona Pitzer College Sage Hens and were no match for the No. 1 ranked Division 3 school. The result was not unexpected as Pomona pumped in five goals in each of the next two quarters to lead 11-0 after three periods. The Blues did get untracked in the final quarter, scoring three goals while surrendering four to finish in a 15-3 deficit. With an early start scheduled for the following day, Head Coach George Gross, Jr., decided to give the starters, who had carried the bulk of the playing throughout the competition tour, extra rest by putting together two lines of players that would substitute for each other every couple of minutes.
